An app (application) is a program designed to be installed on a phone or computer to perform a specific function: managing bookings, processing orders, tracking tasks, communicating with customers, among others. Unlike a traditional website, it lives installed on the device and usually offers a faster experience, tailored to daily use.
Native app or PWA?
Not every «app» is the same. There are two main paths:
- Native app: built specifically for iOS and/or Android, distributed through the App Store and Google Play, and requires approval and maintenance in each store. Higher development cost, but full access to device features.
- PWA (Progressive Web App): installs directly from the browser, without going through the stores. One build works across every device, with instant updates and considerably lower cost. More about PWA →
When does each one make sense?
A native app makes sense when the business needs advanced device features (camera, background GPS, complex push notifications) or is going to be distributed at scale through the stores. For the vast majority of businesses that need to digitize an internal or customer-facing process, a PWA covers the real need with a much smaller investment.
How we work with this at PENDZIUCH
We analyze the real use case of each business before recommending a path —avoiding over-engineering the build when it isn’t needed. We develop both native apps and custom PWAs, depending on what the project actually requires.
